Low-D is from Bern, but the music comes from London, two people, Daniel Brélaz and lyricist Chris Godfrey.
Travelling to London brought the composer and bassist in touch with two essential voices, the English language and the musicians that would help him realise the sound he desired for his music. The result of these collaborations, bring the debut album from Low-D «you bring the change».
In 2005 Daniel Brélaz began recording music for Low-D. He chose The Boogie Back Studio in north London and was accompanied by friends and well known musicians Ernie McKone on drums and Toby Baker on keys. In the singer Gary Poole, Daniel found a voice that would beautifully compliment and complete the music.
The Low-D world is one rich in soul music, acid jazz, funk, blues and gospel. An engagement with this enchanting soundscape together with the pensive nature of the text removes the listener from the present for a while and enables him to search the past and ponder the future.
London based player Julian Burdock added guitars and Daniel Woodtli, Simon Stirnimann and Christoph Fluri, long time friends from Bern were also brought in to add horns and percussion, completing what truly is an exceptional international project.
